Is anyone else’s coffee or food going cold whilst taking the perfect pic for social media??? Or is life passing you by because you’re looking at a screen instead of living?

I was away over the weekend at an awesome 3 day intensive workshop… Over the weekend I got to hang out with some of the great minds in my profession and make plans for the next few months in my work life…

I had many ah ha moments over the last 3 days… About how I could do many things better and then the big aha as far as social media is concerned…

It was while I was sitting with one of my team members talking, and I interrupted our conversation because my coffee had arrived and so of course I started to set up the perfect picture…I had that ah ha moment of a swift upper cut.. Saying it’s for work is not a good enough reason to break a moment of connection with our fellow human beings or is it?

One of the things I have struggled with since I first started using social media for work a few years ago is not letting it take over my day… That may sound a lil’ extreme, but I’m an all or nothing kinda girl… If I’m not mindful of my spare moments it’s too easy sometimes to jump on my phone and pretend I’m looking at FB for work, but the reality is I’m just looking at it for the sake of looking and well wanting to make sure I don’t miss out on anything.. Crazy right, but honestly, how many of us do that? Or is it just me?

One of the key aspects to a healthy happy life is connection to others… I think a lot of us fall into the trap of getting that connection via a screen rather than a real life connection.. I know I have…

It has certainly come up in conversation at home too…anyone else sitting with their partner, you know in the time you should just be enjoying each other’s company and checking in with each other, but  you’re both busy checking in with what everyone else is doing? Or again is that just me?…

It definitely is something I plan on doing better at… My next new habit… Is less connection online and getting better at connecting in life…Connecting with minimal distractions…So that not only does the coffee and food not go cold but most importantly neither do my relationship or friendships…Mxo
