I was at the gym the other night, for the first time in about 10 days…. I was stretching at the end of my session and as I was staring at my new favourite sneakers, I was struck by a thought…

Why are so loyal to brands that we love? Whether its the washing powder or liquid we use, the brand of clothes or shoes that we buy, or the type of phone, computer or tablet that we use…. You know what I mean, for me it usually starts with my shoes… There are a couple of brands that I really love, and then when it comes to sneakers it can flow onto the matching pants, tops, jumpers… in phones… I jumped back to the phone starting with an “I” last year and in the past 12 months have since bought the matching laptop, tablet, and desktop… and I love them…I am quickly becoming a great and loyal customer to that brand, because I like how they look, feel and function.

Now you might be thinking what has this got to do with your health… well PLENTY!  When it comes to ourselves, our own “brand”, how many of us openly love and look after ourselves like we do our favourite inanimate object????

How often do you look in the mirror and think “I love how I look, feel and function”? How often do you say “I’m at my best” or not far off it at the moment (and I know the steps I need to take to get to there)…. it’s a little bit like starting with just one item and collecting many from the same brand…. If we had what those in business call “brand loyalty” for ourselves in the same way that we have for the things that we love, I can only imagine the difference it would make in our daily life.

Most of you reading this will be thinking, but I do, I do from the outside, I care about how I look, what I’m wearing… But how many of you do that from the inside? Not just with what you’re eating, but also with what you’re thinking, and keeping an eye on how you’re functioning….

So from here on in, when I notice that I’m about to do something that goes against me looking, feeling or functioning well… I might give it a miss… because at the end of the day, if I am mindful about not dropping my phone, or my laptop because it means something to me, why would I drop the ball if you like with my own health and wellbeing…..Mxo
